New: segmentation moduledesigner moduleestimator module

2025

Improved charting
  • Optional scenario CSV export in addition to the existing PowerPoint slide deck.
  • Chart resolutions improved on export to PowerPoint format.
  • Pie chart product labels now boxed with pointers; while labels and percentages automatically hidden if below threshold percentage to avoid overlap.

New decision rules (choice rules)

BTL ds:
While the traditional Bradley Terry Luce (BTL) decision rule is quick to process and performs adequately when the products in the scenario are fairly different, it tends to inflate shares for identical or near identical products. BTL ds is being introduced as a solution to this. The 'ds' stands for differential substitutability. It adjusts total utilities for product similarity, the idea being that the more similar the more substitutable and therefore more likely to cannibalize.

Alpha:
Professor Paul Green’s Alpha rule was added in July 2025. Metrisim either estimates this automatically using a search procedure or you can enter a value manually. In essence, alpha is an exponent added to the utilities when calculating shares using the BTL or BTL ds rule. It affects the share percentage variance. Larger alphas, bring the shares closer to the share percentages predicted by Maximum Utility rule (theoretically for durables & other low-frequency purchase occasion products or for predictions over shorter time periods). Smaller alphas bring the share percentages closer to those produced by the BTL decision rule (high-frequency purchase occasion products). Read the decision rules help file article for more.

Segmention module
The segmentation module is a new simulator module. It includes an inbuilt cluster analysis system for identifying segments based on individual partworths. You can also use it to follow a classic 'Segment, Target and Position' exercise.

Designer module
The  designer module makes conjoint analysis experimental design generation a breeze! It uses the attribute map csv you upload, the same map the simulator uses. You can download this as a csv to your PC for reference when making product profiles, and for reuse if you want to repeat a project later on. You can even use it with other compatible software, no vendor lock in.

Estimator module
With the click of a button, estimate partworths and prepare your pws.csv file which is automatically saved on server ready for the simulator. Download a backup to your own PC in human readable format, no vendor lock in.
